This is my niece Breyya. She's currently visiting from South Carolina since the beginning of July. This Saturday my aunt and I are driving her back home – all 19 hours of it. We'll be stopping somewhere on the way to do some thrifting, sightseeing and sleeping. I heart road adventures.

This week's photo challenge at I heart faces is celebrating teens.
This is my youngest brother Zach. He's 17 and just moved to Washington last week to embark on a new adventure. He'll be living at my uncle's property in the mountains by himself. He wants to experience a different way of life and basically live off the grid. If you read this, please say a quick prayer for him.

VERSION 1
I really wanted to bring out her eyes so I changed her hat and scarf to green! This also helped differentiate between the foreground and background. There were so many steps to get here, I wouldn't even know where to start. I used Camera Raw and PS—CS3 for all my edits.

It's time for another installment of Fix-it Friday.

VERSION 1
V1: In Camera Raw, I brought the temperature to +46 and tint to -28. I decreased the exposure since the addition of yellow brightens the image. Contrast +86, Clarity +61, Vibrance +24, Saturation -53. In the tone curve adjustment, I decreased the highlights and lights and increased the darks. The HSL sliders green and aqua are at -100. In Photoshop, I added more contrast and cropped closer on the image. To make her eyes stand out more, I used the dodge tool on her iris and the burn tool to darken her pupil and the outer edge of her iris.
VERSION 2
V2: In Camera Raw, I brought the temperature to +51 and tint to +56. I decreased the exposure and brightness. Contrast +79, Clarity +26, Saturation -51. In the HSL sliders H -6, L -8, D -5, S -10. In Photoshop, I adjusted the levels by moving the center slider to 1.05. Added a bit more contrast. Added a light brown vignette to the border after I cropped in on the image. To make her eyes stand out more, I used the dodge tool on her iris and the burn tool to darken her pupil and the outer edge of her iris. I also cleaned up the wall behind her using the clone tool.
VERSION 3
V3: In Camera Raw, I brought the temperature to +51 and tint to +56. I decreased the exposure and brightness. Contrast +79, Clarity +26, Saturation -51. In the HSL sliders H -6, L -8, D -5, S -10. In Photoshop, I adjusted the levels by moving the center slider to 1.05. Added a bit more contrast +29. As an adjustment layer, I changed the image to black and white and adjusted the color sliders until the grey balance was to my liking. I also changed the fill to 95% on the B&W layer. I added a dark vignette to the border after I cropped in on the image. To make her eyes stand out more, I used the dodge tool on her iris to lighten and the burn tool to darken her pupil and the outer edge of her iris. I also cleaned up the wall behind her using the clone tool.

My niece Breyya at the age of 3 1/2. She's nine now, but this photo has always been a favorite of mine. Her tiny whisps of hair in front and her pigtails on the sides. Her cute but crazy eyebrows and those beautiful eyes. A precious child of God.

This little girl could not be any cuter!!
V1: I used Camera Raw and PS — CS3. I didn't want to do too much photo retouch for the first version. This really is a great photo. It just needs exposed a bit more.
In Camera Raw, I warmed the temperature to +13. I exposed the photo to +.80. I bumped the recovery and the contrast up a bit. I also brought the saturation level down but only to -3.
In Photoshop, I cleaned the image using the clone tool. I really wanted her skin to be smooth, so I removed shadows that were a bit too distracting. I intensifed her eyes using the dodge tool on her iris and the burn tool on her pupil. I cropped the photo so she's off center and to the right. Lastly, I adjusted the magenta levels in the "Selective Color" adjustment. I wanted to change the hat color.They are set to — C +23 M -68 Y -76 K 0
EDITED V2
V2: I picked up from the edits on V1, since the image is already retouched. I converted the image to b/w as an adjustment layer. (Not in the image mode). That way, I am able to adjust the channels within the B/W adjustment layer. Below are my settings. I really pulled the magenta level down so the hat would be darker. I wanted her hat to frame her face more.
V3: I flattened the V2 edits and converted to B/W in the image mode and changed back to RGB mode. In Image > Adjustment > Variations, I added a click of yellow and a click of red. I desaturated the photo to -43 and added in a texture to the left. It is set to Multiply with 38% fill. Again, a beautiful subject to work with!

V1: I used Camera Raw and PS - CS3. In Camera Raw, I increased the green tint and did a recovery to get rid of some of the hot spots. I used a bit of fill light to brighten her face. In Photoshop, I adjusted the white and black levels. In the channel mixer, I increased the blue channel and decreased the red channel. Using the paintbrush tool, I added in clouds so the background was a bit more interesting. I cropped and rotated the photo a bit. Lastly, I multiplied a light vignette of a darker blue-green around the edges.
V2: I used Camera Raw and PS - CS3. In Camera Raw, I increased the green tint and did a recovery to get rid of some of the hot spots. I used a bit of fill light to brighten her face. In Photoshop, I added more contrast and decreased the brightness in the background. I increased the magenta in her face and body. I then pushed the contrast overall. Using the paintbrush tool, I added in clouds so the background was a bit more interesting and then I cropped and rotated the photo.

V1: I used Camera Raw and PS - CS3. In Camera Raw, brought the yellow temperature up, added fill light and decreased the saturation a bit. In Photoshop, I increased the contrast and did an overlay of beige. I added a bit more yellow to the pic and decreased the saturation slightly. Finally I cropped and rotated the photo.
V2: Using the same settings from V1 before the crop, I changed the image to greyscale, adjusted the levels and changed back to RGB. I went to Image>Adjustments>Variations and added yellow and red to the image. I desaturated a bit, added a vignette and cropped and rotated the photo. I wanted her on the left side of the shot. To do this I used the clone tool and added information to the right of the pic. (I ran out of photo on the right from rotating the photo.) This allowed me to place her further to the left.
