Being a graphic designer, I use a pencil, paper and computer every single day. That's the business. Most concepts are formed in my sketchbook, executed in the computer and sent off to the printer. (If only it were that simple). Recently, I was enlisted to create an invite for a special client event at work to celebrate our relationship with them. The concept our team built, led to a different kind of graphic design — mini cakes to resemble remote buttons and a recipe card with instructions for the party. The project was fun for me because I love integrating something I enjoy doing in my free time (baking) and applying it to my work.
The client's colors are dark blue and cyan, so I wanted a little surprise on the inside to match.
Frosting prep before the fondant.
I used edible markers to create the message and fondant for the rest. I have a fondant recipe that I really like that only uses water, marshmallows and powdered sugar.
The finished product.
Wow these are great! What a neat idea. I haven't worked with fondant yet. It intimidates me... haha!
